Business Continuity Management System (BCMS)

ISO 22301

ISO 22301:2019 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for an effective Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).

The aim of the Business Continuity Management System is to ensure and prevent disruptions and to protect against the consequences of potential exceptional events, such as fire, earthquake, IT system failure, and to continue, after such an incident, to provide its products or services at a pre-determined level and to guide a company in the effective planning of such capabilities.

WHO IT CONCERNS:

This standard can be implemented by any organization, regardless of size or activity, which wishes to demonstrate to its customers, partners, suppliers, the effectiveness of its business continuity management.

All major organizations-companies, banks, energy providers, telecommunications providers, well-known IT companies, are seeking improvement in their organizational recovery capability today, by developing business continuity processes and tools, and therefore require the same from their suppliers. In addition, these criteria are increasingly being introduced into public or private tenders.

BENEFITS OF IMPLEMENTATION:

The Business Continuity Management System (BCMS):

  • Helps the organization to identify potential threats and the consequent impacts on its business operations.
  • Better recognition and control of operational risks.
  • Helps the organization establish a Business Continuity strategy.
  • Allows the organization to develop a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), identifying the mechanisms to be activated in the event of a disruptive incident.
  • Provides the organization with a competitive advantage, especially in activities where continuity and resilience are key criteria.
  • Improves competitiveness and increases profits.
  • Reduces costs by mitigating the impact of disruptions.
